Chris Bollen

Dr Chris Bollen is a GP at Oakden Medical Centre in Adelaide, and is director of BMP Healthcare Consulting, a management consulting firm working with companies interested in safe and effective healthcare. Dr Bollen has a special interest in the issues of General Practices working with an increasingly aging population having complex physical, social and mental health needs. Critically, for GPs and their practice teams to be sustainable as long term effective clinicians, they must find more “Joy in Work”, and be supported by their practice systems to deliver more patient centred care rather than having a focus on the volume of patients seen.

Other areas of expertise include systems for chronic disease management, the primary health care/community/hospital interfaces, health care education and training, quality improvement and change leadership. In 2017, Dr Bollen was appointed part time Medical Adviser to ReturnToWork SA (RTWSA).

Dr Bollen is currently the Deputy Chair of the RACGP SA&NT and the Vice-President on the Modbury Hospital Foundation Board, having previously been Treasurer and Chairperson of SA Divisions Incorporated and CEO of Adelaide North East Division of General Practice for 7 years. Other roles include membership of Kidney Health Australia’s PEAK committee (Primary Care Education Advisory Committee for KHA), the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care’s Clinical Communications Advisory Group, Central Adelaide Local Health Network’s Outpatient Governance Committee, and SA Health’s Transforming Health Chronic Pain Implementation Committee.

Julie Adams

Julie Adams graduated from Curtin University in WA with a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree in 1986. She went on to complete her Post Graduate Diploma in Hospital Pharmacy in 1995, and in 1999 she successfully obtained Board Certification in Oncology Pharmacy (US). Julie has worked in the area of oncology and haematology for over 25 years, in a number of hospitals (both public and private) in Western Australia. In 2000 she obtained funding to initiate and develop a service which enabled oncology and haematology patients to receive their chemotherapy and supportive care therapy at home. Julie managed this service for 12 years. In 2013 she has started her own health service, chemo@home, which administers chemotherapy to cancer patients and immunomodulating therapy to patients with chronic diseases such as multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn’s disease.  chemo@home has won numerous business awards for its innovation and disruption of the health service sector, with Julie being awarded the 2016 WA Telstra Entrepreneur and Business Woman of the Year.  Her interests include management of oral chemotherapy medications, drug therapy of malignancies and infectious complications in cancer patients.  Julie also co-ordinates the education program for the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia, Committee of Specialty Practice in Cancer Services.

Louise Ford

Louise Ford is a Manager of the Consumer and Community Engagement Program at the Health Consumers’ Council WA (HCC).  Louise’s professional background is varied and includes being an educator, teaching English to speakers of other languages, working with torture/trauma survivors and assisting newly arrived refugees with their settlement needs. She has developed workshops around working cross culturally as well as exploring strategies to support cultural diversity in health care. Louise has initiated Diversity Dialogues forums and the Refugee and Humanitarian Health Research Alliance in her current role. Her qualifications are a BA, Double Major (Aboriginal and Intercultural Studies and Social Sciences), a Grad Dip Ed (Secondary), Cert. 1V and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).

Bernadette Wright

Dr Wright is an Associate Consultant of CrossCultural Intellect, a training and service development consultancy established in 2010. CrossCultural Intellect specialises in increasing the understanding of, and expertise in, transcultural health and mental health care.  For over 19 years, Dr Wright was the Senior Clinical Psychologist with WA’s statewide Transcultural Mental Health Service providing mental health care to people from ethnoculturally diverse backgrounds.  Her career in the service was recognised locally and nationally as pioneering the transcultural mental health agenda for Western Australia.  Dr Wright has developed and delivered numerous training seminars and workshops on various aspects of culture and mental health.  Her comprehensive range of resource development initiatives are aimed at improving mental health literacy among ethnoculturally diverse groups and facilitating the transcultural process between the practitioner and consumer, their carer(s) and family.

Scott Winter

Scott has worked in WA Police for 14 years. During his career he has worked in Accident Investigation Section, Close protection / Driver for the Commissioner of Police, Trained as a Forensic Scenes of Crime Officer, served in Photography section and Fingerprints bureau then he specialised in Forensic Ballistics.

Scott has also worked in the remote areas of Norseman, Roebourne then Kalgoorlie. He left as a result of PTSD.

He has worked in the private Security industry, was a Ranger and an investigator for the City of Fremantle and has also worked as the manager for external security and traffic management at the Domestic and International Airports.

Scott has been working in WA Health for 8 years and has managed security at PMH / KEMH / CAHS and CAMHS.   He has also been involved in significant corporate investigations within health. He as the Security manager at Swan Districts Hospital and worked there during decommission.

Currently Scott is based at Sir Charles Gardner Hospital as the security manager for Graylands State Forensic mental health unit security.

Scott also delivers training to the security staff regarding PART, 2014 Mental Health Act and is engaged on occasions as a NMHS Policy research officer.

He is starting a business – A.C.T.S : Aggression and Conflict Training Solutions – a consultancy business to specifically target methods of dealing with aggression in health care settings. This includes security and self-awareness talks, work place bullying, mediation and professional development workshops.

Anne Davis

Anne Davis fell into practice management in the early eighties after the medical student she was married to became a GP and they decided to head bush to Lake Cargelligo in rural NSW.

During the ten years there, Anne learned about running a medical practice – mostly by trial and error, often flying by the seat of her pants.

Since then Anne has worked as a management consultant and trainer in the health industry with particular focus on planning, people and quality.

Anne’s practical approach is supported by a strong theoretical base – including Bachelor of Science (Honours), MBA, and post graduate qualifications in corporate governance and quality assurance.

Anne’s passions include quality, leadership, family, whiskey, knitting and chilli chocolate ice cream.

Walid Jammal

Wally is currently the principal GP in a family practice in Sydney, as well a Senior Medical Advisor for Avant Mutual Group. He supervises GP registrars and medical students in this practice. His interests include paediatrics, men’s health, ethics, health law, and quality and safety in health care.  He has experience acting as an independent GP expert in civil and disciplinary matters, and has a Masters of Health Law.  He has a keen interest in health economics and models of care in general practice, including the Health Care Home framework. He sits on various MBS review committees, is a member of the evaluation subcommittee of the Medicare Services Advisory Committee, and sits on review committees for Therapeutic Guidelines.

Madeline Jammal

Madeline is an Intensive Care trained Registered Nurse. In 2001, she established Hills Family General Practice in North West Sydney. She is Director and Practice Manager. The practice has grown to include 13 full and part time doctors, nursing staff and a pharmacist. She completed the Diploma of Professional Practice Leadership in 2016 at UNEP. Madeline is a Certified Practice Manager with AAPM.  Along with the Principal of the practice Dr Wally Jammal, Madeline is a strong believer in the patient centred and Health Care Home philosophy. This includes a data driven, team based approach to chronic disease management. We utilise an in house non-dispensing pharmacist and case conference with Endocrinology teams for our diabetes patients. We are involved with NSW Health Integrated Care Program and the implementation of the NSW Agency for Clinical Innovation Patient Reported Measures.

Tasha Broomhall

Tasha Broomhall is the Director of Blooming Minds and has been providing mental health and wellbeing programs throughout Australia for 16 years. Tasha is a Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) and Certified Expert Presenter (CEP), holds a Principal Master Trainer status from the MHFA Australia program; is currently completing a Masters of Sc Psychology; is the founder and Editor in Chief of Blooming Minds magazine and the author of a number of books and journals to promote personal and organisational mental health.  Tasha’s work has been recognised with the ICCWA Suicide Prevention Award in WA and recently as a finalist in the national LiFE Awards for Excellence in Suicide Prevention.

Mental health is a serious topic but with almost half of us experiencing mental illness in our lifetime, it is a subject that we need to talk openly about in our homes, workplaces and communities. Tasha draws from her background in psychology, disability, psycho-social rehabilitation and business, to talk about a serious topic in a relatable and humorous way

Danny Haydon

Danny has been a business consultant to the medical and allied health industry since 2008, advising on all areas of practice management including business planning, infrastructure development, HR management, and service development. He heads up the Practice Management services of Brentnalls SA which is focussed on supporting medical and allied health practices to achieve their goals.

Danny also undertakes the following roles:

Colleen Sullivan

For most of her career, Colleen has been actively involved in with AAPM and held positions of State and National President. She is a Certified Practice Manager, Fellow and Life Member of the Association. Colleen is currently a member of the Editorial Committee and the Fellowship Taskforce.

She is a presenter and assessor with the UNE Partnerships Professional Practice Management Program.

Colleen has published two books with Professor Geoffrey Meredith, ‘Successful Practice Management – Exceeding Patient Expectations and “Starting Practice: The Essential Handbook” has just been released.

In 2014, Colleen was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia, OAM for service to Medical Administration.

In 2017, Colleen was honoured to be invited to be awarded an Associate Member of AMA Queensland

Gary Smith

Gary has been involved in the management of health care practices for over 30 years.

He was once reported in a medical magazine as “the guru” in Practice Management.

Gary has been the National President of the Australian Association of Practice Managers and President of NSW Branch. Gary has been awarded a Life Membership to AAPM in recognition of his exceptional commitment to AAPM and outstanding contribution to AAPM both at State and National level.

Gary represents his Association on a number of Commonwealth Government health related advisory boards, task groups and expert standing committees in the health care sector.

He holds an Academic position with University of New England Partnerships where he also presents in their Professional Practice Management Program. He holds Board Directorships with the Australian Association of Practice Management, General Practice Workforce Tasmania, Australian General Practice Accreditation Ltd (AGPAL) and is Chairman of Quality Innovation Performance (QIP), Australia’s largest accrediting body for primary healthcare and community. He has been appointed by the New South Wales Government as a Board member to the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District Board.

He has been described as a practice management maven, as he has a passion for Practice Management that is why he is a sought after speaker in Australia and Internationally

Shane Morgan

Michelle Harris

Michelle is currently working as a GP in a family practice in Western Australia, as well a Medical Advisor for Medibank. She sees a wide range of cases in the practice where she works and sees herself as a generalist. Her interests include chronic disease management, mental health, nutrition and weight loss, women’s health and occupational medicine.

She has experience in Occupational medicine having worked as an occupational medicine registrar doing injury management, workers compensation and employment medicals. She has also has experience working in emergency medicine and intensive care as an emergency medicine registrar. She has a keen interest in health economics and models of care in general practice.
